Welcome to this week's fly fishing report from Solstice Fly Fishing! The Cape Cod Bay water temperature is currently at 46 degrees Fahrenheit, which is a promising sign of increasing activity in the coming weeks. However, we expect to see even more action when the water temperature reaches 50 degrees and higher.
We have received reports of fresh migratory fish off of Martha's Vineyard, which indicates that the schoolies should be showing up soon on Cape Cod. This is great news for anglers looking to get out of the house and hit the water.
In addition, the holdover striper fishing has started to improve, with more fish becoming active and aggressive as the water temperature rises. The herring are running in great numbers, which is a major attractant for the striped bass. We recommend using patterns that mimic this baitfish, such as Clouser minnows or epoxy sand eels, and herring patterns to increase your chances of success.
While the fishing is still somewhat slow, we anticipate that it will pick up in the coming weeks as the water temperature continues to rise. The flats of Cape Cod should be producing fish in about two weeks Book your fly fishing trip on Cape Cod to experience some amazing striped bass fishing in Cape Cod. Our experienced guides have been exploring the waters and identifying the best spots for a successful outing. From the beaches to the estuaries, there soon will be plenty of opportunities for anglers of all skill levels to catch some fish and make some memories.
As always, we encourage anglers to practice responsible catch-and-release practices to ensure the health and sustainability of the fish population. At Solstice Fly Fishing, we are committed to conservation efforts that help preserve this incredible fishery for generations to come.
