Welcome to this week's Cape Cod Fly Fishing Guide and Report from Solstice Fly Fishing. The water temperature in Cape Cod Bay is clocking in at 57 degrees. The winds will start to taper off and allow for better fishing conditions as the week progresses.
It seems that the loads of fish that we were seeing in the early part of the month have moved on. They have been replaced by the seasonal residents of Cape Cod, just kidding... Anyways, the fishing has been pretty good, but it has shaped up into a more typical wide range of size of fish. The number of crabs and sand eels on flats has increased with warmer water temperatures. This is great because the fish have been very hungry. The fish have been eating for us with very few refusals on our trips.
Pro Tip: If you are on the flats, keep your retrieve slow and almost lifeless. The fish are not necessarily out there to chase things around and waste energy.
Check out our new blog post about Solstice's founder and guide, Kevin LaCroix. This is a good article to get a feel for who you are hiring when booking a guided fly-fishing trip with Solstice Fly Fishing.
